Delaying antibiotic prescriptions for respiratory tract infections (RTIs) reduces antibiotic use without significantly impacting clinical outcomes or patient satisfaction. A no-antibiotic strategy further lowers use, but delayed prescribing offers a compromise for clinician confidence.

- Delayed prescribing serves as a viable compromise to reduce unnecessary antibiotic use and combat antimicrobial resistance when a no-antibiotic strategy is not feasible.
