Background:

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) is a federal advisory committee composed of medical and public health experts.
ACIP convenes three times annually to formulate vaccine use recommendations in the United States.
Members and CDC staff analyze vaccine-preventable disease epidemiology, research, safety, and efficacy data.

Purpose of the Study:

To present discussions and proposed recommendations from the February 2017 ACIP meeting.
To highlight key topics addressed, including specific vaccine recommendations and epidemiological updates.

Main Methods:

Review of meeting proceedings and presented data from the ACIP February 22-23, 2017 session.
Discussion of epidemiological trends, vaccine effectiveness, safety data, and cost analyses.

Main Results:

Proposed recommendations for vaccinating infants born to HBsAg-positive mothers were discussed.
