Staphylococcus saprophyticus causes many urinary tract infections (UTIs) treated with ineffective antibiotics. This study highlights the need to consider S. saprophyticus and reassess antibiotic choices like ceftriaxone for UTIs.

    • High ceftriaxone MICs in S. saprophyticus suggest this antibiotic may not be suitable for treating UTIs caused by this pathogen.
    • Re-evaluation of antibiotic susceptibility and treatment guidelines for S. saprophyticus UTIs is warranted.
