Chronic inflammation predicts long-term mortality in patients with Raynaud's phenomenon

Subclinical chronic inflammation markers, including low hemoglobin, predict mortality in incipient Raynaud's phenomenon. Hemoglobin concentration showed the strongest link to patient mortality risk.

- In multivariable analysis, low haemoglobin concentration remained independently related to future mortality.
- Low haemoglobin concentration was the strongest predictor of mortality in this cohort.
Conclusions:
- Laboratory markers of chronic inflammation provide prognostic information in Raynaud's phenomenon, independent of nailfold capillaries and ANA.
- Hemoglobin concentration is the most significant mortality predictor among all assessed markers in Raynaud's phenomenon.
