Summary

Endotracheal suctioning (ETS) in intubated patients can cause serious hemodynamic issues. This study found ETS significantly decreases mixed venous oxygen saturation (SvO2) mainly due to increased oxygen consumption (VO2) and inadequate cardiac output (CO) response.
