  • Defects were reconstructed using scapular/parascapular flaps.
  • Donor sites were closed either primarily (9) or with advanced techniques (11), including transposition, rotation advancement, keystone, latissimus dorsi, and Y-V flaps.
  • Main Results:

    • All flaps (recipient and donor) survived with good aesthetic and functional results.
    • Patient satisfaction was high.
    • Only two donor site flaps required revision for wound dehiscence; no other complications occurred.

    Conclusions:

    • Advanced donor site closure techniques can achieve primary wound healing for back defects.
    • These techniques avoid the complications associated with skin grafts.
    • The study demonstrates successful reconstruction with favorable outcomes.
