A comparison of cemented and cementless fixation with the Miller-Galante total knee arthroplasty

This study demonstrates the comparability of cemented and cementless fixation in total knee arthroplasty at short-term follow-up. While some differences in pain, limp, and support were noted, knee scores were equivalent. Roentgenographic analysis as well as implant retrieval studies demonstrate that porous ingrowth is a viable method of fixation of total knee components. Further long-term follow-up studies will be required to determine both the long-term clinical results and the longevity of the fixation interface.
