An Assessment of the Xenon- 133 Method of Measuring Muscle Blood Flow1

The ¹¹³ Xe method for measuring muscle blood flow is discussed, and has been evaluated in both normal and ischaemic limbs, a standard amount of ischaemic exercise being employed as the stimulus to hyperaemia. This is considered to be a reliable technique with a high degree of reproducibility, which may be applied to advantage in the clinical assessment of patients with peripheral vascular disease.
