A Medical Support System for a Professional Golf Tournament

In brief The medical coverage plan provided for participants, spectators, officials, and workers during the Kemper Open, a Professional Golf Association tournament is described. There were four staffed first-aid stations. The medical team saw 138 patients during the tournament Three patients, one of whom was resuscitated after a cardiac arrest were hospitalized locally and eventually discharged. Many of those with medical problems were tournament participants, their families, and caddies. A high grass pollen count caused 20 allergic respiratory problems. Recommendations for improvement of the medical care plan are given.
