Ectopic thyroid carcinoma in a thyroglossal duct cyst (TGDCCa) is rare, lacking unified treatment. A personalized approach, potentially Sistrunk procedure alone for small tumors in young patients, is suggested, with total thyroidectomy and radioiodine ablation for other cases.
Area of Science:
- Endocrinology
- Surgical Oncology
- Pathology
Background:
- Ectopic thyroid carcinoma within a thyroglossal duct cyst (TGDCCa) is exceptionally rare.
- Current therapeutic strategies for TGDCCa are not standardized and remain controversial.

Papillary Dermis
The dermis might be considered the "core" of the integumentary system, as distinct from the epidermis and hypodermis. It contains blood and lymph vessels, nerves, and other structures, such as hair follicles and sweat glands. The dermis is made of two layers of connective tissue that comprise an interconnected mesh of elastin and collagenous fibers, produced by fibroblasts.
