    Background:

    • Continual skin peeling syndrome is a rare disorder characterized by generalized, noninflammatory exfoliation of the stratum corneum.
    • The condition presents with spontaneous and manually induced skin peeling without pain or bleeding.

    Observation:

    • Histological examination revealed separation of corneocytes above the granular cell layer.
    • Ultrastructural analysis identified an unusual intracellular cleavage mechanism.
    • The plasma membrane of peeling cells remained adherent to underlying cells during exfoliation.

    Findings:

    • The primary finding is a unique intracellular cleavage process in the stratum corneum.
    • Electron-dense globular deposits were observed intercellularly within the stratum corneum.
