Summary

A new metric, the intensity gradient, combined with average acceleration, offers a fuller picture of physical activity intensity and volume. This approach better predicts body fatness and physical function than traditional metrics alone.

  • These metrics independently predict body fatness and physical function.
  • Using both metrics enhances understanding of activity's role in health outcomes.
