Summary
Retinal hydration folds, outer retinal abnormalities, were observed in two cases of retinal detachment. These folds may result from glycosaminoglycan hydration in the interphotoreceptor matrix.

- The exact cause of these folds is unknown, but hydration of interphotoreceptor matrix glycosaminoglycans is suspected.
- Further research is needed to elucidate the pathophysiology of hydration folds in retinal detachment.
