Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the validity of the Snap & Sniff (S&S) test.
  • To assess the test-retest reliability of the S&S test.
  • To compare S&S results with the established Smell Threshold Test (STT).

Main Methods:

  • 120 participants (30 normosmic, 60 hyposmic, 30 anosmic) underwent olfactory testing.
  • Olfactory thresholds were measured using both the S&S and STT.
  • Normosmic participants were retested to assess test-retest reliability.

Main Results:

  • Significant differences in olfactory thresholds were found across normosmic, hyposmic, and anosmic groups (P < .001).
  • S&S and STT showed weak correlation in normosmic individuals but stronger correlation in patient groups.

Conclusions:

  • The Snap & Sniff (S&S) test is a valid and reliable method for determining olfactory thresholds.
