Activated Prothrombin Complex Concentrate Versus 4-Factor Prothrombin Complex Concentrate for Vitamin K-Antagonist

Activated prothrombin complex concentrate (aPCC) and 4-factor prothrombin complex concentrate (4F-PCC) showed similar efficacy in normalizing the international normalized ratio (INR) for warfarin-associated hemorrhage. Thrombotic complications were not increased with either product.

- Only one thrombotic complication was reported posttreatment.
Conclusions:
- A low, fixed dose of aPCC is as effective as standard dose 4F-PCC for INR normalization in warfarin-associated hemorrhage.
- No increased risk of thrombotic events was observed with either PCC formulation.
