Nurses in China demonstrate moderate knowledge of venous thromboembolism (VTE) prophylaxis, with significant gaps in physical and pharmacological methods. Targeted education is crucial to improve VTE prevention by nurses.

    • Educational programs should prioritize areas with low correct response rates to enhance VTE prophylaxis knowledge.
    • Continuous, higher-level education for nurses is recommended to improve their understanding and application of VTE thromboprophylaxis.
