Reliability and Validity01:29

Reliability and Validity

14.1K
Reliability and validity are two important considerations that must be made with any type of data collection. Reliability refers to the ability to consistently produce a given result. In the context of psychological research, this would mean that any instruments or tools used to collect data do so in consistent, reproducible ways.

In Vitro Drug Release Testing: Overview, Development and Validation

363
In vitro dissolution and drug release tests assess how quickly and how much of a drug is released from its dosage form into an aqueous medium under standardized laboratory conditions. These tests are essential tools in pharmaceutical development and quality assurance, offering insight into the drug's performance before clinical use.During formulation development, dissolution testing identifies incomplete or inconsistent drug release issues. It also supports decisions on selecting the optimal...

Data Validation01:15

Data Validation

2.2K
Method validation is a crucial process in analytical chemistry designed to confirm that a given method consistently produces reliable and high-quality results. This process is essential when a method is applied to different sample matrices or when procedural modifications are made, ensuring that the results meet acceptable standards across various applications.
Key parameters for method validation include:

Data Validation

6.9K
Data validation is an essential part of a comprehensive assessment. Validation is confirming or verifying and opening the door to gathering more assessment data as it clarifies vague or unclear data. The process of checking and verifying the collected information is called data validation. The primary purpose of data validation is to ensure data is as free from error, bias, and misinterpretation as possible.

Formulating and Validating Nursing Diagnosis I01:26

Formulating and Validating Nursing Diagnosis I

4.0K
A nursing diagnosis is written when the nurse recognizes a cluster of essential patient data indicating health problems treated with independent nursing interventions. The standardized terminologies of a nursing diagnosis help nurses identify and treat patients' problems. Every electronic health record that uses nursing diagnosis must employ standard diagnostic terminology. Developing an efficient, individualized care plan begins with accurate nursing diagnoses.
There are thirteen domains...

Sustainable Development01:43

Sustainable Development

15.2K
As the human population continues to grow and use resources, we must be mindful of our planet’s natural limits. Sustainable development provides a pathway to maintain and improve human life now while also ensuring that future generations will have the resources that they need. The long-term success of sustainability efforts rests on understanding the interplay between human actions and ecological systems.

Area of Science:

  • Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
  • Digital Health
  • Psychometrics

Background:

  • Excessive internet usage is linked to behavioral and emotional problems.
  • A need exists for efficient tools to identify at-risk internet users.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To develop and standardize a questionnaire for identifying at-risk internet users based on usage habits.
  • To validate the Internet Overuse Screening-Questionnaire (IOS-Q).

Main Methods:

  • A 28-item preliminary questionnaire was selected from an initial pool of 36 items.
  • Participants (n=158) were recruited from six centers in Seoul, South Korea.
  • Construct validity, internal consistency, reliability, and diagnostic ability (ROC analysis) were assessed.

Main Results:

  • Exploratory factor analysis resulted in a 17-item, five-factor structure.
  • The IOS-Q demonstrated high internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha=0.91) and good test-retest reliability (0.72).
  • ROC analysis indicated superior diagnostic ability (AUC=0.87) with high sensitivity (0.93) and specificity (0.86) at a cut-off of 25.5.

Conclusions:

  • The Internet Overuse Screening-Questionnaire (IOS-Q) is a reliable and valid tool.
  • IOS-Q supports internet addiction research and screening of high-risk individuals.
