We developed cost-effective firefly luciferase assay reagents and protocols for high-throughput screening. This enables efficient identification of biological network components and signaling-modulating compounds using 96-well plates.
Area of Science:
- Biochemistry
- Molecular Biology
- Cellular Signaling
Background:
- Firefly luciferase reporter gene assays are crucial for high-throughput screening (HTS).
- These assays identify molecular components in biological networks and compounds affecting cellular signaling.
- Current methods can be expensive, limiting accessibility for large-scale screening.
Purpose of the Study:
- To develop affordable reagents for firefly luciferase assays.
- To establish procedures for using these reagents in reporter gene HTS.
- To facilitate large-batch screening using 96-well cell culture plates.
Main Methods:
- Preparation of cost-effective firefly luciferase assay reagents.
- Optimization of assay procedures for 96-well plate formats.
- Implementation of reporter gene assays in a high-throughput screening context.
Main Results:
- Successful preparation of affordable firefly luciferase assay reagents.
- Demonstrated utility of the reagents and procedures in HTS.
- Enabled efficient screening of large batches of 96-well cell culture plates.
Conclusions:
- The developed methods provide an economical approach to firefly luciferase reporter gene assays.
- This facilitates broader application of HTS for biological discovery and drug screening.
- Cost-effective reagents and procedures enhance accessibility for researchers.

Introduction to Documentation and Reporting
Nursing documentation records essential information and details regarding a patient's care and treatment in written or electronic form. It is a critical aspect of nursing practice that involves documenting assessments, interventions, outcomes, and other relevant details about a patient's health status.
Documentation maps the patient's health journey by creating a comprehensive...
