The first Loranthaceae fossils from Africa

The first fossil evidence of Loranthaceae pollen in Africa was discovered in early Miocene deposits in Saldanha Bay, South Africa. This finding sheds light on the ancient dispersal and host associations of mistletoes on the continent.
