    Summary

    Marijuana use does not appear to falsely elevate human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) levels. This study found no detectable HCG in marijuana users, refuting previous claims of spurious elevation in testicular cancer patients.

    Background:

    • Previous reports suggested marijuana use may falsely elevate human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) levels.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To investigate the association between marijuana use and serum HCG levels.
    • To determine if delta 9-THC interferes with HCG radioimmunoassays.
