Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the agreement between self-reported responses on the Adult Pre-exercise Screening System (APSS) questionnaire administered online versus F2F.
  • To determine the reliability of online APSS for capturing essential health information for exercise safety.

  • Adult volunteers (n=94) completed the APSS via both online and F2F modalities.
  • Responses were compared using kappa and correlation statistics.
  • Objective health risk factors were also measured for comparison in later stages.

Conclusions:

  • Substantial agreement in Stage 1 responses supports the use of online APSS for pre-exercise screening.
  • Online screening is a viable and reliable method for initial health risk assessment.
  • Further investigation is needed for self-reported versus measured risk factors in later screening stages.
