Isolated Upper Limb Weakness From Ischemic Stroke: Mechanisms and Outcome

Stroke causing isolated upper extremity weakness often involves the motor strip, linked to carotid artery disease. Recurrent stroke risk is high, particularly with vulnerable carotid plaques.

- A significant risk of recurrent stroke exists, especially in the presence of mild-moderate carotid stenosis with plaque ulceration/thrombus.
