Summary

The barbell hip-thrust (BHT) exercise demonstrates very high test-retest reliability for peak force and power. BHT performance correlates moderately to highly with isokinetic testing, suggesting it can substitute for isokinetic devices.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the test-retest reliability of the BHT exercise.
  • To determine the correlation between BHT performance and isokinetic strength testing.

  • Peak force and power were measured using the BHT force-velocity profile test in handball athletes.
  • Test-retest reliability was assessed over two separate days.
  • Correlations were calculated between BHT measures and isokinetic measurements of knee flexors and hip extensors at varying velocities.
