  • Pneumothorax incidence was 5.6% (RT), 9.8% (OT), and 19.4% (PC).
  • Chest tube reinsertion for pneumothorax was lower in the PC group (19.4%) compared to the OT group (60%).

Conclusions:

  • The prophylactic air-extraction strategy shows promise as an alternative for selected patients undergoing thoracoscopic wedge resection.
  • Remedial air extraction may decrease the need for chest tube reinsertion in pneumothorax cases.
  • Further investigation is warranted to confirm these findings and optimize patient selection.
