Right ventricular dysfunction is common in non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) and improves after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Assessing right ventricular function using tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) is recommended for NSTEMI patients.

Purpose of the Study:
- To evaluate RV function in NSTEMI patients undergoing invasive procedures.
- To assess the impact of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on RV function in NSTEMI.
Main Methods:
- 150 NSTEMI patients eligible for PCI were divided into normal and impaired RV function groups based on tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) < 17 mm.
- RV function was assessed using TAPSE at baseline and 3-month follow-up.
- Independent predictors of RV dysfunction were identified through multivariate analysis.
Main Results:
- RV dysfunction was observed in 61.3% of NSTEMI patients.
- TAPSE showed significant improvement at 3 months post-PCI compared to baseline (15.45 ± 3.21 mm vs. 17.09 ± 4.17 mm).
- Impaired RV function patients demonstrated significant TAPSE improvement (13.62 ± 2.58 mm vs. 17.16 ± 3.64 mm, p=0.008).
Conclusions:
- RV dysfunction is prevalent in NSTEMI, defined by TAPSE < 17 mm.
- Successful PCI leads to significant improvement in RV function (TAPSE) at 3 months.
- Routine assessment and monitoring of RV function in NSTEMI patients are recommended.
