  • A 56-year-old male patient developed progressive, non-itchy eyelid edema after pemetrexed-carboplatin chemotherapy for lung adenocarcinoma with brain metastases.
  • No other causes for the edema were identified.

Findings:

  • The patient was diagnosed with pemetrexed-induced eyelid edema.
  • This adverse event is exceedingly rare, with only 22 reported cases in medical literature.
  • The exact mechanism of pemetrexed-induced eyelid edema is unknown, but capillary protein leakage is a hypothesized cause.

Implications:

  • Accurate diagnosis requires ruling out other potential causes of eyelid edema.
  • Management of chemotherapy-induced eyelid edema can be challenging.
  • Surgical intervention has shown promise in resolving this condition without recurrence.
