Case:
A 19-year-old adolescent with Kniest dysplasia was incidentally found to have osteosarcoma of the proximal aspect of the humerus after having a chest radiograph for evaluation of an upper respiratory infection. He underwent chemotherapy and resection of the tumor, and there was no evidence of metastasis at the 16-month follow-up.
Conclusion:
Patients with osteochondrodysplasias often have multiple orthopaedic symptoms. Changes in chronic pain symptoms should be investigated to rule out insidious secondary causes of musculoskeletal pain, such as osteosarcoma.
