Background:

  • Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) is a significant central nervous system disorder in elderly patients following anesthesia.
  • The molecular causes of POCD are not fully understood, and effective diagnostic or treatment methods are lacking.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To explore the molecular mechanisms of POCD by investigating long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) and messenger RNAs (mRNAs) in affected patients.
  • To identify potential diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets for POCD.

Main Methods:

  • Recruited 200 patients undergoing hip or knee replacement surgery.
  • Assessed neurological function pre- and post-surgery; analyzed serum lncRNA and mRNA expression using microarray.
