Antagonism of adenosinergic system decrease SWD occurrence via an increment in thalamic NFkB and IL-6 in absence

Caffeine reduced absence seizures in WAG/Rij rats by decreasing spike-wave discharge (SWD) and increasing thalamic NFkB and IL-6. Adenosine did not affect seizures or inflammation, suggesting a role for the adenosinergic system in absence epilepsy.
