Pattern recognition receptor polymorphisms in early periodontitis

Genetic variations in toll-like receptors (TLR) are linked to early periodontitis risk in adolescents. Specific single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) in TLR1, TLR4, TLR7, and TLR8 were associated with increased or decreased susceptibility to this inflammatory gum disease.
