  • 45 mandibular premolars underwent micro-CT scanning before and after root canal preparation and obturation.
  • Samples were divided into three groups for postspace preparation: K files (#110), Peeso reamers (#3), and ParaPost XT drills (1.1 mm tip diameter).
  • A third micro-CT scan evaluated microcracks, followed by statistical analysis to compare techniques.

  • All tested postspace preparation techniques increase the incidence of dentinal microcracks.
  • ParaPost XT drills pose the highest risk for inducing dentinal microcracks, followed by Peeso reamers and K files.
