Anabolic Androgenic Steroid (AAS) abuse combined with a high-protein diet can trigger kidney failure (ESKD) in individuals with a specific ACTN4 gene mutation. This mutation makes podocyte cytoskeleton vulnerable to environmental factors like AAS.
