Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the association between flatus incontinence and sonographically diagnosed EAS trauma.
  • To determine if flatus incontinence correlates with patient bother in symptomatic women.
  • To assess the impact of including flatus incontinence in AI bother prediction.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective study of 1051 women attending a tertiary urogynecological unit.
  • Utilized St. Mark's Incontinence Score (SMIS) and visual analog scale (VAS) for bother assessment.
  • Translabial pelvic floor ultrasound was used to diagnose EAS trauma.

Conclusions:

  • Evaluating flatus incontinence is crucial for comprehensive AI assessment and management.
