The medical Therapy of inflammatory bowel diseases Abstract. Since the introduction of biological therapy, using monoclonal antibodies, the management of inflammatory bowel disease has evolved a lot. However, the treatment concept of these two chronic, relapsing diseases (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis) remains the same: choosing the right medication for the induction of remission, based on the activity and extend of disease, and then pursue, ideally, with the same medication for the maintenance of remission.
