Lithium treatment and cognitive changes in two mentally retarded patients
The Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease
|November 1, 1986
Abstract:
Lithium carbonate was used to treat behavioral disorders in two mentally retarded patients. Although improvement was noted in the behaviors, cognitive performance, measured with the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test, showed a decline, which was related to the serum lithium level. The implication of these changes is discussed.
