Patient safety - Development, implementation and evaluation of an interprofessional teaching concept

Purpose of the Study:

• To develop and implement an interprofessional teaching concept on patient safety.
• To target medical students and health professions students at Medical Faculty Heidelberg.
• To enhance interprofessional competencies in patient safety.

Main Methods:

• Learning objectives based on "Lernzielkatalog Patientensicherheit" and "Core Competencies for Interprofessional Collaborative Practice".
• Designed two interactive courses for interprofessional groups (approx. 15 participants each).
• Utilized project development, error reporting systems, checklists, role-plays, and video materials for content delivery and evaluation.

Main Results:

• 28 students participated, with 82% deeming patient safety relevant.
• 82% of participants valued the interprofessional aspect of the course.
• 73% of students expressed a desire for more interprofessional education.
