A new evaluation index system for nursing simulation teaching quality was developed. This system, incorporating teacher, student, design, practices, and outcomes, provides a scientific and reliable tool for enhancing simulation education.
Area of Science:
- Nursing Education
- Simulation-Based Learning
- Educational Measurement
Background:
- Simulation is crucial in nursing education, but quality is affected by multiple factors.
- A comprehensive evaluation index system is needed to guide high-quality simulation.
- Existing evaluation methods lack scientific rigor.
Purpose of the Study:
- To construct a scientific Evaluation Index system for Nursing Simulation teaching Quality.
- To determine the weight of each indicator within the system.
- To provide a reliable tool for assessing nursing simulation education.
Main Methods:
- Phenomenological research design.
- Combined Delphi and Analytic Hierarchy Process methods.
- Two-round expert consultations with 27 nursing education experts in China.
Main Results:
- Developed a 5-level index system (Teacher, Student, Simulation design characteristics, Educational practices, Outcomes) with 14 secondary and 62 tertiary indices.
- Expert consensus achieved with high recovery rates and authority coefficient (0.89).
- Weighted indicators established, with 'Teacher' (0.4109) having the highest impact, followed by 'Student' (0.2593).
Conclusions:
- The developed index system and its weight assignments are scientific and reliable.
- The system serves as a valuable guide for high-quality nursing simulation teaching.
- It is a valid tool for evaluating the quality of simulation teaching in nursing programs.
