[Improvement of therapeutic ratio due to low dose rate teletherapy]

Analysis of the literature shows that improvement of therapeutic ratio by low dose rate teletherapy (LDRT) is not admitted widely because of severe complications. We have used the LDRT as boost therapy, and this method is hopefully for esophageal carcinomas and abdominal tumors. But complications of small intestine was still severe. Improvement of therapeutic ratio due to the LDRT is expected by decreasing the incidence of complications through reduction of treatment volume, dose rate and daily dose and by increasing the local cure rate through combination with hyperthermia.
