Purpose of the Study:

  • To correlate the clinical status, activity levels, and radiological scores in patients with osteoarthritis of various joints.
  • To evaluate the effectiveness of different clinical and radiological indices in assessing OA severity.
  • To determine the best applicable index for assessing knee osteoarthritis.

Main Methods:

  • A cross-sectional study of 100 consecutive osteoarthritis patients.
  • Clinical examination and laboratory investigations were performed.
  • Standardized clinical indices (Lequesne, Doyle, WOMAC-KGMC) and radiological indices (Kellgren and Lawrence, Kallman) were used for grading OA severity.

Main Results:

  • The knee joint was most commonly affected (89%), followed by the lumbar spine (49%).

  • Visual analogue scale, along with various radiological and clinical indices, proves useful in assessing osteoarthritis, especially in the knee joint.
