Achieving Optimal Esthetic Outcome With Previously Placed, Compromised Implants

The management of previously placed, periodontally compromised implants can be quite challenging for clinicians. This challenge can be compounded when there are adjacent, facially angled implants and bony and soft-tissue defects associated with these conditions. Not only is esthetic integration of the new prosthetics highly difficult to manage, but a contingency plan needs to be factored into the prosthesis to make it retrievable in case there are future problems. Understanding the thought processes of how to manage such a case prosthetically and implementing critical nuances into the treatment plan, as described in this case report, is vital.
