Summary

Childhood violence exposure significantly increases intimate partner violence (IPV) risk for female-assigned-at-birth sexual and gender minorities (FAB SGM). The number of childhood violence types experienced, not the type or gender match, predicts increased IPV risk.

The Resident-intruder Paradigm: A Standardized Test for Aggression, Violence and Social Stress

This video shows the resident-intruder paradigm in rats. This test is a standardized method to measure offensive aggression, defensive behavior and violence in a semi-natural setting. The use of the paradigm for social stress experiments is explained as...

Sexual Selection and Mate Choice

Sexual Selection Class Simulation
ExpandNote: In this activity, you and your classmates will portray a sexually reproducing population consisting of an equal number of male and female animals. You will simulate several different mating scenarios to determine how relative quality, attractiveness, sex, and parental commitment affect mate choice and reproductive success. The goal of this activity is to maximize your progeny.
Hypotheses: There are several overall hypotheses for female and male...

Establishment of Rat Models Mimicking Gender-affirming Hormone Therapies

The protocol describes the development of two rodent models mimicking gender-affirming hormone therapies through subcutaneous administration of testosterone or estradiol plus cyproterone acetate (used in human therapies for transgender people): setting of the doses, identification of relevant biomarkers, and evaluation of the...

Minor Losses in Pipes01:25

Minor Losses in Pipes

In pipe systems, minor losses refer to energy losses arising from components such as valves, bends, fittings, expansions, and other features that disrupt the steady flow of fluid. These disturbances cause energy dissipation through turbulence and resistance, which engineers quantify to manage system efficiency effectively.
Valves play a significant role in generating minor losses by obstructing or redirecting the fluid flow. When a valve is closed or partially closed, it restricts the flow...
