Summary

This case report highlights imaging features of breast liposarcoma, a rare malignancy. Differentiating it from other breast masses is crucial for appropriate treatment and prognosis.

Background:

  • Liposarcoma is a rare breast malignancy, comprising 0.3% of breast sarcomas.
  • Common breast sarcomas include angiosarcoma, liposarcoma, malignant fibrous histiocytoma, leiomyosarcoma, and fibrosarcoma.

Observation:

  • A case of liposarcoma in a 55-year-old female is presented.
  • Emphasis is placed on imaging characteristics to distinguish liposarcoma from carcinomas, other sarcomas, and benign fat-containing lesions.

Findings:

  • Histological grading of liposarcoma includes well-differentiated, mixed, and dedifferentiated (high-grade) types.
  • Higher histological grades correlate with increased risk of metastasis and recurrence.
