Summary

Afamin expression in breast cancer tissue was analyzed using tissue microarrays (TMA). This study found no significant link between afamin levels and patient survival, suggesting it may not be a useful prognostic marker.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate afamin expression in breast cancer using TMA.
  • To determine the potential relationship between afamin expression and breast cancer characteristics.

  • Immunohistochemical staining for afamin expression was performed on 106 archival invasive breast cancer specimens using TMA.
  • Afamin expression levels were analyzed in relation to clinicopathologic data via multivariate analysis.

Main Results:

  • TNM stage demonstrated a significant correlation with the 5-year survival rate.
  • Afamin expression levels did not show a statistically significant association with overall 5-year survival.

Conclusions:

  • TMA-based immunohistochemical staining is an efficient method for assessing afamin expression in breast cancer.
