Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the association between social jetlag (SJL) and time perspective (TP) in schoolchildren and university students.
  • To explore the predictive power of chronotype, sleep quality, and mood seasonality on various aspects of TP.

Main Methods:

  • A cross-sectional study involving 1064 students (mean age 19.2 ± 2.9 years) from four Russian cities.
  • Participants completed questionnaires including the Munich ChronoType Questionnaire, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, Seasonal Pattern Assessment Questionnaire, and Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory.
  • Multiple regression analysis with stepwise inclusion of predictors was used to assess associations between TP characteristics and other variables.

Main Results:

  • Chronotype moderately predicted future TP.
  • Sleep quality was a moderate predictor of past negative, present fatalistic TP, and deviation from balanced TP.
