Summary

Minimally invasive surgery for rare cardiac tumors like pulmonary fibroelastomas is effective. A left anterior mini-incision (LAMI) approach allows valve-sparing tumor resection, enabling faster recovery and discharge.

Background:

Pulmonary fibroelastomas are exceedingly rare primary cardiac tumors, with limited documented cases.
Surgical intervention is typically required for symptomatic or diagnostically uncertain lesions.

Observation:

A case of pulmonary fibroelastoma was treated using a minimally invasive valve-sparing resection.
The surgical approach utilized was a left anterior mini-incision (LAMI).

Findings:

The LAMI procedure was successfully performed without the need for cardiac arrest or aortic cross-clamping.
This approach facilitated an expedited postoperative recovery, with discharge on postoperative day 5.

Implications:

The left anterior mini-incision (LAMI) presents a safe and effective alternative to traditional median sternotomy for specific cardiac interventions.
This technique is suitable for procedures involving the right ventricular outflow tract and main pulmonary artery, including fibroelastoma resection and valve replacement.
