Lateral Transfibular Approach to Tibial Pilon Fractures: A Case Report.

Findings:

• Full weightbearing was permitted 8 weeks after surgery.
• At the 2-year follow-up, no degenerative changes were observed.
• The patient achieved full ankle range of motion.

Implications:

• The transfibular approach is a viable surgical option for isolated lateral tibial pilon fractures.
• Early mobilization and weightbearing can lead to favorable long-term outcomes.
• This approach may help prevent post-traumatic arthritis in the ankle.
