Summary

Plasma levels of vascular endothelial growth factor-D (VEGF-D) and human epidermal growth factor-4 (HER4) were elevated in heart failure patients with pulmonary hypertension. Normalization of these proteins after heart transplantation correlated with improved cardiovascular hemodynamics and reduced pulmonary congestion.
