WormQTL2 is a new database for C. elegans. It integrates expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) data, enabling comparative analysis and systems genetics research.
Area of Science:
- Genetics
- Systems Biology
- Bioinformatics
Background:
- Quantitative genetics links genetic variation to trait differences.
- Expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) mapping identifies genetic control of gene expression.
- Accessing and analyzing eQTL data can be challenging.
Purpose of the Study:
- To develop WormQTL2, a database and platform for comparative analysis of C. elegans eQTL data.
- To facilitate meta-analyses and systems-genetic studies using published eQTL datasets.
- To make C. elegans natural variation data and QTLs interactively accessible.
Main Methods:
- Integration of six eQTL studies across 11 conditions.
- Inclusion of over 1000 traits from 32 studies.
- Development of a web-based platform for data mining and comparative analysis.
Main Results:
- WormQTL2 provides a unified resource for C. elegans (e)QTL data.
- The platform enables screening for cis-eQTLs linked to other traits.
- It facilitates detection of gene-by-environment interactions and correlation analyses.
Conclusions:
- WormQTL2 enhances accessibility and reusability of C. elegans (e)QTL data.
- The database supports advanced systems-genetic analyses and experimental design.
- It enables research beyond the scope of original publications.
