Flow cytometry T cell profiling in a recent-onset narcoleptic type 1 child: a case report

Changes in T cell subsets within cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and blood may indicate narcolepsy type 1 progression. This study tracked these T cell changes over time in a child with recent-onset narcolepsy.

- Elevated CSF/PBMC fold-change ratios for CD4+ and CD8+ CM T cells, and CD4+ EMRA T cells at follow-up.
Implications:
- CSF and blood T cell subset frequencies, particularly EM vs. CM populations, may serve as biomarkers for narcolepsy type 1 progression.
- Understanding T cell dynamics offers insights into disease mechanisms.
- Potential for monitoring disease activity and therapeutic responses.
