  • To examine the influence of age and gender on EF and IADL performance in the elderly.

Main Methods:

  • 80 elderly participants (mean age 73.4) were assessed at home.
  • Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) screened for normal cognition (NC) and mild cognitive impairment (MCI).
  • Weekly Calendar Planning Activity (WCPA-10) and IADL scale measured performance.

Main Results:

  • Significant differences in WCPA-10 and IADL performance were found between MoCA cognitive groups.
  • Age and gender impacted IADL performance, but not WCPA-10.
  • IADL and WCPA-10 performance correlated with cognitive level in independent elderly.

Conclusions:

  • Cognitive level is a key determinant of IADL and EF performance in the elderly.
  • EF-focused interventions may enhance IADL participation and performance.
  • Maintaining IADL participation is essential for elderly quality of life.
